Karen Williams sits on the Board of Federated Farmers as Vice President, where she has responsibilities for health and safety, transport, and the Resource Management Act review. Karen farms a 480ha property at Gladstone in the Wairarapa in partnership with her husband Mick. Karen is driven to help farmers and the agricultural sector to better engage with local, regional and central government to ensure rural communities remain relevant, strong, vibrant, economically viable and environmentally sustainable.

The Whangarei A&P Society is proud to host and sponsor the Rural Business Network (RBN) meetings for Northland.

Meetings are free to members of the Whangarei A&P Society. Ph: 09 438 3109 or email events@wap.org.nz to RSVP.

The RBN provides an opportunity for rural based business people to participate in professional development to grow their businesses through networking and learning. The aim is to connect with a variety of people involved in the rural sector from farm business to agri-business. This creates an opportunity to learn from and be inspired by others. Through the RBN, businesses are connected across different sectors of the Primary Industry to share ideas and identify innovative opportunities.

The RBN aims to deliver four key outcomes at each meeting:

Interesting, relevant keynote speakers
Question and Answer sessions for in-depth understanding
Networking
Socialising

All Northland RBN meetings are held at Barge Showgrounds Events Centre and are $20 to attend, or free to Whangarei A&P Society members (see above). Light refreshments and nibbles from 5.30pm to 6.00pm, prior to the speaker commencing. The meetings conclude at 7.30pm.
