Penny Ashton

“Go, if you dearly love a laugh.” - Dominion Post 2020

After a rapturous near capacity run in Wellington to conclude 2020, Penny Ashton (WOMAD Slam mistress) is packing her bonnet and riding her best carriage to Taranaki.

Flushed by eight years’ success from Edinburgh to Edmonton to Mosgiel, comes Ashton’s collaboration with Jane Austen (deceased).

How will Miss Elspeth battle literary snobbery, cousin Horatio’s digestions and her mother’s nerves, armed only with a blushing countenance, excellent ukulele skills and being quite bright, you know…. for a girl?

In this hilarious, one-woman show, Penny tackles all of Austen’s characters with song, dance and appalling cross-stitching.

Winner: Best Performance In a Comedy, Auckland Fringe / Patron’s Pick, Winnipeg Fringe / Best Theatre Week Three, Adelaide Fringe

PG 13

‘Pride and Prejudice gone wild in the best way’ — Rip It Up, Adelaide
