April’s programme starts with the wonderfully varied and interesting Open Mic session. From 5 we showcase our guest performers. The Guest Poet, writer and multi-media journalist Richard Langston, will read from his latest poetry collection, Five O’Clock Shadows (Cuba Press, 2020). From a longdrop that demands binoculars to Caberfeidh in the Catlins where his father picked plums from the passing train, Richard writes poems that return over and over to the land. Our Guest Musician is guitarist Duleep DeSilva. As a young man in Sri Lanka he regularly played after work and on weekends at various tourist hotels. In New Zealand in the ’90s he was the lead singer/guitarist of Latin American trio ‘Romanza’. Duleep now performs mainly as a soloist.
