Our Kids Online – but are they secure?

Online security is topical not only for our DHBs and businesses, but for our young people. Recent feedback from parents and educationalists indicate strong concern around the harm our young people are facing online in relation to pornography, predators & social media access. They want to learn practical solutions to keep our young people safer online and what to do when our young people have been exposed to something harmful.

To address these concerns, our community is treated to an evening with specialists Rob and Zareen Cope’s and an ‘Our kids Online’ presentation to gain advice on healthy ways to approach these tricky topics and design an online safety plan tailored to suit your family's needs.

Rob and Zareen are a husband and wife team with four children between them. While navigating the pros and cons of handheld devices in the current digital climate, they decided to start making documentaries and provide resources after discovering what children are accessing and the effects on emotional and physical wellbeing.

They provide recommended practical solutions to help keep children safer online and come highly recommended from schools and community groups throughout New Zealand. Whether you are a parent, whanau, educator, or a health provider – this evening will offer something valuable for all. Our kids online – but are they secure?

Hosted by Wanaka Alcohol Group in partnership with Mt. Aspiring College, Kahu Youth, Community Networks, and QLDC. Refreshments provided.
