Curated by Miriama Grace-Smith, Xoë Hall, Gina Kiel and Ash Holwell, 16 art panels were commissioned and created in September 2020 to be permanently installed in two/fiftyseven, with the provocation ‘I dream of a world…’

two/fiftyseven is a brand new and entirely unique venue in Whanganui-a-Tara offering coworking spaces, meeting rooms and booths, and flexible event spaces focused on supporting the local impact community. Founded upon the principle that space is an enabler, two/fiftyseven focuses on impact rather than profitability and aims to amplify the impact and wellbeing of all space users.

Alongside the panels, Miriama, Gina and Xoë created their first collaborative mural piece as a trio in the space, which has helped the formation of the ‘dream girls collective,’ seeing them collaborate together on new works for CubaDupa and Porirua City Council in the time since their two/fiftyseven work.

During the rebuilding phase of the space, many of the works went out into the community and were taken care of by generous kaitiaki in their homes throughout Whanganui-a-Tara. This exhibition will see them all back together and installed in the new space - guiding the kaupapa of all who work, visit and play here.

The works were created by:

Theo Arraj
Taupuruariki Brightwell
Miriama Grace-Smith
Chevron Hasset
Nikau Hindin
The Hori
Jessica Thompson/ Māori Mermaid
Jade Kake
Gina Kiel
Holly Rocck
Larissa McMillan
Greta Menzies

Mica Still
Tayi Tibble
Victor Tepaa

In addition, the exhibition will include a selection of original artworks and prints from featured artists that Mashuko Aotearoa has curated. The exhibition will also feature new work by Mike Tupaea and Janine Williams (TMD Crew), generously donated to the space.

Space Bar will be serving natural wines, local beers, sneaky seltzers and yum toasties at the opening night.
