The much-loved Arts Centre is as iconic as it is historically and culturally important. Architectural historian Jenny May will take you through this wonderful Gothic Revival collection of buildings and fill you in on its beginnings as a home for Canterbury College, Christchurch Girls’ HIgh and Christchurch Boys’ High and explain how it is the sum of various architects’ designs.

Jenny May is an architectural historian and heritage consultant who has been involved in heritage for some 30 years. She is currently involved in a number of projects including the reinstatement of Christ Church Cathedral and the Arts Centre of Christchurch. She received the ONZM in the 2007 New Year’s Honours for her work in heritage.

Meeting point: Under the Clock Tower by the Rutherford’s Den entry
