Nic Foster - 'Aroha:Whenua'

Nic Foster's love affair with Aotearoa's dramatic mountain landscapes and high energy coastlines continues in his first solo for 6 years. The combination of moody scenes and Te Reo is the artist's call to action about caring for our environment in the face of climate change. The words are markers and act as a clarion call to the viewer through the painterly atmosphere. Foster is a painter of light and uses the intensity of colour and contrast to dissolve the shapes of our land which in turn suggests a disappearing of what we hold most precious.
