Naming Manurewa with Historian Bruce Ringer

Local writer and historian Bruce Ringer explores the many and sometimes quirky stories of Manurewa through its place, street, building and institutional names. How did Manurewa first get its name? Where are its mountains? Which suburb was named after a gentleman who never set eyes on the place? Which street, park and building were associated with both New Zealand's most notorious divorce scandal and New Zealand's finest cowshed? Why are most of the streets named after racehorses? This talk will provide answers to these questions and many more.

The event will also mark the launch of the Manurewa Historical Society's latest book, 'Naming Manurewa'.
