Join us for the opening of our exhibition celebrating the encounter in 1820 between Russian Antarctic explorers and Maori in Totaranui/Queen Charlotte Sound.

The exhibition will be formally opened with participation from Kurahaupo iwi and Russian academic and linguist Olga Suvorova. Olga helps us to explore the fascinating, little-known story of the meeting of two cultures, the taonga gifted to Russia, and the interactions between these two peoples.

Refreshments served.
