Come learn how to make a video game about petting dogs!

This introductory workshop will teach budding game developers the fundamentals of programming with the freely available block-based visual programming software, Scratch.

Attendees will learn how to make playable characters, the basics of animations, and very simple non-playable characters.

All attendees will have made a small game about petting dogs as well as an introduction on how to learn to make their own games.

Suitable for ages 8-12 years old.

Facilitated by Tana Tanoi.
Tana is a Wellington, New Zealand-based programmer and game designer, currently working at Dinosaur Polo Club. He started with level design and modding, before getting into programming, software engineering, game jams, then finally game development. He’s also an avid tea-drinker, lindy-hopper, and dog-petter.
