New Zealand's first lady of the blues returns to Nelson and Tasman wearing the mantle of Madame Tragedie to perform works from her latest album, a 12 track concept album offering a collection of the original composition, classic blues, jazz and Celtic soul.
Heralded as one of NZ's most musical Scottish imports (NZMM July2003) Isabella (Izzy) Miller Bell Aka Ma Bell wears many hats and guises. She is a multi-faceted performance artist with a passion for the stage and music, a folk-blues Jazz singer-songwriter and eloquent interpreter of song who arrived in Australia in 1981 before crossing the Tasman in '87 where she has continued to perform locally, nationally & internationally.
Ma Bell is the real deal following in the footprints of the great blues artists of the past, a storyteller who has lived the stories she tells through music. This sassy vintage blues siren will lift you up to the dizziest of heights and cast you down into the darkest of nights with her story of the blues.
Accompanied by two top-shelf South Island jazz blues players including John Bevin on piano/vocals and Mike Kime on upright bass plus guests, this is sure to be a night of magic and fine acoustic sounds in the company of Madame Tragedie & Accomplices.
