Ever wanted to live and work in Japan? Come talk to some people who've done it!

With applications currently open for the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme, you may have questions about what it's actually like to be sent off to live for a year or more somewhere in Japan. The JET Alumni Association of Wellington, in coordination with the Embassy of Japan, have organised a casual evening event for prospective applicants to ask those questions, hear some stories, and enjoy free Japanese-style snacks courtesy of Yoshi Sushi Press Hall (drinks, including a range of Japanese beers and sake, will also be available for purchase).

Admission to the event is FREE and open to all potential applicants! (please check eligibility requirements below or on the website) So reserve your ticket and come along with your Japan-loving friends to this great opportunity to meet a handful of the thousands of Kiwis who've participated in this Programme over the past 35 years—anyone interested in applying is welcome to attend! Doors open from 5:30, with Q&A starting from 6:00.

Every year, a diverse range of New Zealanders representing a variety of backgrounds, ages, interests, and cultures start a life-changing adventure in Japan—and next year that could include you!

What is the JET Programme, you ask?

Are you:
- A New Zealand citizen?
- Already graduated? Or will have your Bachelor's Degree/Teaching Diploma conferred by early July 2022?
- Interested in international activities?
- Interested in teaching English to young people and living in Japan?

The JET Programme is an overseas employment opportunity to live and work in Japan for a year or more! Check out how you could soon be heading abroad on the adventure of a lifetime—and getting paid for it!

Positions available:
Assistant Language Teacher (ALT)
ALTs help the Japanese foreign language teachers in class, and assist in preparing teaching materials and class activities. They may assist in English language clubs and other extra-curricular activities. Knowledge of Japanese is not required to be an ALT.

Coordinator for International Relations (CIR)
CIRs work in local government offices and are involved in international activities which might include editing publications, translation work, advising on the planning and implementation of exchange programmes, and interpreting at international events.
