Meet up with other people interested in art at the St Andrews Life Drawing group.

Please note that you will need to observe the protocols relating to the management of
Covid. These may vary according to government requirements. Do not attend if you are unwell.
The only payment facility we are able to offer, at the moment, is cash. In order to avoid unnecessary cash handling, it would be appreciated if you have the exact amount.

Pencil, pastel, pen, charcoal, IPad, A6,A5,A4,A3,A2... novice or experienced artist.

Whichever medium or sketch pad size you prefer and whatever your level of experience come along and practice your life drawing skills at our friendly and informal life drawing group, where we draw unclothed models. There is no need to book in advance, or for long term commitment (although there are some long term members); just turn up when it suits. We meet weekly from mid-February to late November/early December and there is no break for the school holidays.

Note: The group is untutored, although the tea break partway through offers an opportunity to get some tips, and you will need to bring your own art materials. We use tables as there is no room for easels but you can bring your own table easel if you wish. The format is usually some quick two minute sketches at the start to warm up followed by longer poses of up to 20 minutes.

Charges in 2021 will be $12 for waged and $9 for unwaged, and this includes tea or coffee at the break halfway through. However, due to Covid restrictions we may not always have a break.

PLEASE NOTE: Payment is by cash only.

This group was formerly the long-running Turnbull House Life Art Drawing group which had to move after an earthquake and has been organised by the same group of volunteers since its inception. We are not a church group but, like other community groups, rent a meeting room at the St Andrews event centre. Afterwards, some of us have dinner together, usually at the Old Bailey on Lambton Quay, and you are welcome to join us.

The entrance to the events centre is on the right of St Andrews Church, and we are on the second (top) floor—there is a lift. It is very close to bus stops on The Terrace and a short walk to Lambton Quay.
