Experience the art of letterpress printing in this fun, hands-on workshop.
This workshop is perfect for those of you who love typography, design and have always wanted to learn the origins of this art form. Bring your project to life under the expert guidance of Graham Judd of Inkiana Press on his 190-year-old Albion press!
During the workshop you’ll learn how to set your own type and print from different cases of wooden type. You’ll get to experiment with paper, ink colours and composition.
By the end of the workshop you’ll have designed your own bespoke poster to take home with you.
Be in quick - only 6 spaces available! All levels welcome. Age: 16 +
What to bring:
• An apron or old shirt as you’ll be working with oil-based inks.
• A quote, phrase or short poem to use for your poster.
• All other materials provided.
About the tutor:
Graham Judd is a master letterpress machinist who runs Inkiana Press from his home studio in Auckland. He is proud to have won a number of Pride in Print awards in recent years, and won the Supreme Award in 2014 where his submission was judged the best print in New Zealand.
Passionate about preserving the art of letterpress, he created his Mobile Print Shop which allows him to offer workshops throughout the region using his 1833 Albion press.
