Ka whawhai tonu tāua: Conversation on Māori-Pākehā relations

We invite you to a timely, down-to-earth conversation about Māori and Pākehā in Aotearoa in 2021.

Te Kawehau Hoskins (Ngāti Hau, Ngāpuhi) is Ihonuku Māori, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Māori), at the University of Auckland. Alison Jones (Pākehā) is a professor in Te Puna Wānanga School of Māori and Indigenous Education at the university. Both work in the field of Māori-Pākehā relations.

In this conversation, Te Kawehau and Alison discuss their entangled trajectories as writers, thinkers and activists. Each brings a critical view to their relationship and to attempts at productive cultural and political engagements between indigenous and settler subjects here in Aotearoa New Zealand. They are plain speakers, good-humoured, never shying away from the difficult questions. This conversation will appeal to all interested in personal and political relationships between Māori and others.
