Enjoy an evening of stunning original music by candlelight with Jacquie and Kay as they play songs from their extensive repertoires and share the stories behind their songs.

Jacquie Walters-

Jacquie Walters has been a professional singer-songwriter for nearly 30 years.

Jacquie was a founding member of “Pounamu” with Arts Laureate Ariana Tikao in the early 1990s before she went to study in the UK. While in the UK Jacquie performed with Kate Bramley (now of Jez Lowe and the Bad Pennies and The Mile Roses).

Since 2000 Jacquie has recorded three solo albums, “Dreamwalking, “Step into the Light” and “Light for a Broken World” and is currently recording her fourth album. Several of her songs have achieved accolades in international songwriting competitions and have been recorded by other artists. She regularly performs with James Wilkinson (Emeralds and Greenstone, Rua, Hampster) at festivals, concerts and music venues around New Zealand.

Jacquie has a clear and powerful voice and her songs touch people’s hearts.

Kay Duncan -

Kay Duncan is an Interdisciplinary artist who weaves her creative magic through music, poetry and visual art.

Her melodies are heartfelt and soulful, abundant with emotive undercurrents. Her style is a gentle mix of soul, folk, blues and jazz. She likes to keep it real and authentic, writing predominately from her own experience.

With a rich and sensual alto voice that has been likened to a blend of Joni Mitchell and Karen Carpenter, (with a touch of Bonnie Raitt), Kay delivers her songs with warmth and passion.

Kay has been singing all her life and began performing and writing songs in the UK when she was 11 years old, and enjoyed singing in local folk clubs there.
She was the lead singer in the Christchurch jazz band “The Flying Dixies” and also works in collaboration with her composer and pianist husband Guy Hobson. She performs frequently at local venues, events and private functions Solo and with Guy.

Kay is presently recording her much anticipated solo debut album.
