Illustration for children’s and young adult books, book covers, cards, calendars, posters, zines, and graphic novels, comics and framed prints.
Specialising with students who love drawing and design and with a medium level of confidence and a willingness to tackle different illustrative styles that could be publishable on the web. Students are encouraged to commit to drawing in their visual diaries each week as homework. If pupils have an iPad, apple pencil and procreate they are encouraged to also practise illustrating styles at home and bring to class to show their progress.
Cost $35.00 per session per week plus a one-off fee for a visual diary and set of graphite pencils and special drawing pen. $40.00.
Works will mostly be executed on paper with acrylics, watercolour, gouache, coloured pencil, pen and ink, pastels and mixed media. This class is for people who are interested in setting up their own blogs, Instagram and Facebook accounts to showcase their work in the future.
While pupils own ideas are taken into consideration the course is primarily directed at people who are willing to follow instructions to help elevate their technical, perceptual and conceptual skills. A willingness to tackle challenging subjects in a naive, illustrative style is a prerequisite. There will also be an opportunity to create work in the Japanese anime style but only after other decorative styles have been accomplished.
This is a brand new illustration course and in some cases there will be other students in attendance who are attending the original painting and mosaic classes.
fees $140.00 are payable per month for four weeks at a time. Each term is 12 weeks duration.
From time to time there will be extra charges for calendar, photo book and zine production, people will be informed of these charges well in advance.
Classes will be held during public holidays and school holidays. All ages from are invited.each pupil will be working on their own project.
