Tramping how to and top tips

James McQueen – Visitor Centre Ranger presents information and hearty practical tips when in come to tramping in the Southern South Island’s mountains. James is a seasoned tramper having done many tracks and routes including the Five Passes, Rees/Dart and the Hollyford track. If you are wanting to start out tramping or keen to learn more, come along.
Rock Wren/Tuke

Lisa Thurlow – Senior Biodiversity Ranger presents the story of the Rock Wren/Tuke. Rock Wrens are our only true alpine bird, found in pockets of sub-alpine habitats in the South Island. Rock Wrens are Threatened/Nationally endangered which means they face a high risk of extinction in the short term. They are poor fliers and nest on the ground, making them susceptible to predators.
