Poetry Slam is the competitive format taking the world by storm. A high energy, often hilarious, sometimes heartbreaking event where performance poets are judged by random members of the audience in an arbitrary but totally engaging way. All year there have been heats at BATS, Te Papa and the Fringe Bar, and now each of these monthly winners will come together underneath the National Library to compete to be Wellington’s 2021 Poetry Slam Champion.

Glory will be heaped upon the winners, including the chance to travel to Christchurch to compete for the title of New Zealand Slam Champion, and an invitation to perform at Verb Writers & Readers Festival. Bring your friends and whānau for a raucously wordy night out. Tickets on sale now.
