Join the tramping club for an easy walk along the ridge on the western edge of the Waingake Bush QE2 catchment (Waterworks Bush) and back the same way following the “QE2 Track”. Spectacular views over Waingake Bush and the coast on a good day. Te Rimu o Maru was the first land sighted from the Endeavour on 6th October 1769 by 11-year-old Nicholas Young as the ship approached Turanganui a Kiwa. This sighting earned Nicholas his name on Young Nicks Head, as well as a reward of rum.
