A working bee on the western end of the Otoko Track – to clear grass away from the steps and walkway marker posts, and clear branches off the track. The Otoko Walkway is now designated as a “Track”, and is no longer maintained by DoC.
The track traverses 5 km of the old Gisborne/Moutohora railway line. At the western end, the track turns down a farm vehicle track to the Waihuka river and finishes at the State Highway opposite the Otoko Hall. This is the section which particularly needs regular maintenance.
At the top of the farm track a short walk along the railway line offers a view of a small picturesque waterfall set among native bush.
