How have the 8.7 million different animals evolved to suit their environments? We’ll take a special look at why the wildlife we have here in Aotearoa New Zealand is so unique.

Wednesday 14 July // Fabulous France
Celebrate Bastille Day and everything fun about France. Scale the Eiffel Tower with your tricolour aloft, shouting “Vive la France” all the way!

Thursday 15 July // Living Environments
The living world is all around us, even inside the Museum! Meet Tony, our Living Environments Officer and learn about his work caring for the creatures that call Otago Museum their home.

Friday 16 July // Astrophysics
How do we use chemistry and physics to learn about the stars? We will travel through the solar system exploring our place in space and delve into the world of rocket science.

Monday 19 July // Making the Museum
Did you know that there is science in the Otago Museum galleries? Learn how our expert team of curator’s work behind the scenes to care for and store our collections.

Tuesday 20 July // Designing the Museum
Do you wonder how a museum creates exhibitions? It's all about design! We will look around our newest exhibition, Fashion FWD and see how they did it.

Wednesday 21 July // Winter Wonders
Can’t stop your teeth chattering? Come in from the cold and create some winter memories with us!

Thursday 22 July // Creatures of the Dark
Travel the world to learn and see the animals that make the darkness their home. From skunks, foxes and racoons to kiwis, let’s explore the night-time exploits of our nocturnal friends.

Friday 23 July // Happy
What makes you happy? What makes you smile? Let’s get happy together as we feed our souls and learn about the endorphins that light up our lives.

Weekdays during the school holidays from Monday 12 July – Friday 23 July 2021. Whole day sessions: $60 per child 8.30am–5.30pm. 10% discount when you book all ten days. Ages 5 – 12, fully supervised, dress for mess!

Bring a packed lunch and drink bottle or pre-order your lunch from our Café.
Please note, children watch a G-rated movie during break times.
