Hine•Ngaro is a series of paintings that illustrate a reclamation of health in the mental and emotional dimension of hauora (wellbeing). Expressed through the narrative of Hine, a Māori Girl returning; to herself, to health, to home.
Each piece stands as a landmark in the journey from mental illness to the wealth of mental and emotional wellbeing.
In many ways the exhibition will pay tribute to the multidimensional nature of the mental space.
Hine•Ngaro is the second installation of a year long, three-part, Inter-arts project, GENESIS; The multidimensional journey of returning back to yourself, an inherent responsibility as a future ancestor.
Visit the Carlton Gallery at The Arts Junction 36 Main Road, Open Mon-Fri 9am-4pm, Sat-Sun 10am-2pm.
