Phosphenes are the luminous floating stars, swirls, and squiggles you see when closing your eyes tight and pressing them with your fingers. The word derives from the Greek phōs (light) and phainein (to show).
Award-winning photographer Esther Bunning's exhibition is an exploration and organic unravelling of an abstract landscape, from origination through to images being printed on silk and textiles with light and movement. Having started this adventure while on her recent NZ Pacific Studio Anzac Bridge Fellowship, the artist now naturally integrates her background in textile design into her photograph work.
Esther will be giving an artist talk on Saturday 27th November at 11am.
