Share the wonders of nature with your child as you learn how to draw at one of our wonderful workshops in Robin's Nest at Ngā Manu - Bookings are essential.

Paul Forrest is a professional artist, environmentalist and educator based in Wellington.  His works can be seen around the grounds of Ngā Manu as well as throughout the country. Our drawing classes with Paul are designed for a parent & child or grandparent & grandchild or auntie/uncle & nibling (niece or nephew) - a great way to spend some quality time together these holidays.

Each of our 4 classes has a different theme: Birds and Trees, Plant Studies, People and Trees in Motion, and Patterns in Nature. All the classes are designed to nurture your own creative spirit. Classes are 75mins and each time slot is limited to approximately 16 in each workshop. This limited number is to ensure that everyone gets some concentrated learning time and direction from Paul.

Dates and times of the drawing classes:
14 July
Birds and Trees 10:30am – 11:45am
Plant Studies 12:30pm – 1:45pm

21 July
People and Trees in Motion 10:30am – 11:45am
Patterns in Nature 12:30pm – 2pm

The workshop fees are inclusive of materials for the drawing lesson and also include entry to Ngā Manu Nature Reserve for the day. The animal life is a mix of both wild and enclosed species. Get up close to the iconic kiwi in our nocturnal house and discover New Zealand’s unique prehistoric reptile- the tuatara. Meet the friendly kea, tui, fantail, kereru and kaka. Over 56 different bird species have been spotted over the years coming and going around the wetlands, bush and surroundings - every visit to Nga Manu is different!

All pathways are easily walked, there's seating and picnic spots throughout the Reserve and a barbeque for hire. All facilities are designed for wheelchair and pushchair access and family enjoyment is well catered for. Our Eel Feeding is at 2pm daily. Pack a lunch and come enjoy the whole day at Ngā Manu Nature Reserve!
