This screening is director Spike Lee's ‘Do the Right Thing'. (A USA production, 1989, 120 minutes.)

Racial tensions hit boiling point on the Brooklyn streets in Lee's masterwork. Its relevance remains starker than ever. Lee himself plays Mookie, a pizza delivery guy for Sal’s Famous Pizzeria, who interacts with all the varied characters who make up his diverse neighbourhood, as he makes his deliveries. The heat of the day is visceral through the vibrant colours and throbbing music as across the community tempers flare. Soon ordinary slights take on huge significance with tragic momentum.

Doors open at 7pm with free drinks and nibbles for this season opener.
