David Copperfield - Auckland Live Summer in the Square

Kick back and enjoy a free screening of The Personal History of David Copperfield, starring Dev Patal, the third actor of Indian descent to receive an Academy Award nomination and who won the BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actor for the film Lion. This film is part of Auckland Tāmaki Makaurau’s outdoor cinema line-up in Aotea Square. Come early to secure your spot, bring something comfy to sit on, have a bite to eat, and catch the pre-movie entertainment.

A fresh and distinctive take on Charles Dickens’ semi-autobiographical masterpiece, The Personal History of David Copperfield, set in the 1840s, chronicles the life of its iconic title character as he navigates a chaotic world to find his elusive place within it. From his unhappy childhood to the discovery of his gift as a storyteller and writer, David’s journey is by turns hilarious and tragic, but always full of life, colour and humanity.
