Join the hunt for real live storybook characters at Whangarei Central Library.

Gather at 10.​15 am to pick up a game card to join in this exciting hunt. Then search the nooks and crannies of the library to find your favourite storybook characters. Get each character to complete your game-card and be into win prizes.

The Parade.
All children who have been hunting for characters are invited to join a storybook character parade just after midday.

Meet guest author Clare Scott who will be signing copies of her book, 'Ruru and Kiwi', which has been nominated for Best First Book Award.
Craniums will have copies of 'Ruru and Kiwi' for sale: $20 - eftpos will be available.

All children under 11 years attending this event must be accompanied by an adult.

The New Zealand Book Awards for Children and Young Adults have celebrated annually with events and activities that bring books alive for young readers of all ages. The awards promote the importance of books and reading and provides inspiration for New Zealand’s future writers and illustrators.

The Character Hunt is sponsored by Whangarei District Libraries, Craniums Whangarei and Making a Scene Speech & Drama Academy.
