Free Talk: Choose Happiness with Birgit Saunders

Have you ever wondered what happiness is and where it comes from? If happiness is a choice then why is it so hard to be and remain happy even for one day?
Buddha says that our minds are the source of both happiness and suffering. We often can’t control our circumstances but we can control our mind and find real happiness through meditation.
In this way we can become more relaxed, positive and confident.
Learn how to choose happiness in your life.

Our thoughts and attitudes create all of our experiences. If we want to take control of our life and find the happiness we long for, we must learn how to control our mind.
Using meditation and Buddhist wisdom, we can reduce negative thinking and learn to think in ways that result in a more positive and peaceful outlook.
Through training our mind, we develop the inner space to respond to daily challenges in more constructive ways, improving our relationships with others and making our life truly meaningful.

Meditation is a special method for familiarising our mind with positivity, or virtue. The more familiar our mind is with positivity, the calmer and more peaceful it becomes. When our mind is calm and peaceful we are free from stress and mental discomfort, and we experience true happiness.
If we train our mind to become peaceful we will be happy all the time, even in the most difficult conditions.
But if our mind is not peaceful, even if we have the best external conditions we will not be happy.
For example, if we are out having a great time with friends, and then we get upset about something, all peace and happiness automatically disappears. Therefore it is vital to train our mind through meditation

"Without Inner Peace, Outer Peace Is Impossible" - Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche

In this talk Birgit will introduce meditation as a way to find true happiness and guide meditation to help us relax and get in touch with the natural stillness of our mind.
