Calla & Adelaide Cara combine forces for one night only at the beautiful Grainstore Gallery in Oamaru.

Known for their malleable vocals and gothic pop melodies, New Zealand songwriter/producer Adelaide Cara broke into the local music scene with their work on Repulsive Woman's album Relief (winner of the Auckland Live Best Independent Debut, 2020 Taite Music Awards) and as the lead singer for the post-punk band Milpool. Cara has since released their debut album, How Does This Sound?, in 2021. Their first single Paranoia! was released in August 2020, reaching #19 on the NZ Hot Singles Chart, and #1 on the SRN. Their second and third singles, Eden and Moonlit also spent time at #1 on the SRN and other student radio stations alike, with Moonlit reaching #14 on the NZ Hot Singles Chart.

Calla is a force of nature wielding unique musical skill as a spiritual spellcaster capturing audiences in a suspended time-rift. A student of the-human-voice-as-instrument, electronic musician, violinist, and pianist, Calla is one of those people for whom music is not a pond lightly dabbled in, but an ocean that she calls home. It’s not so much that she plays music, as it simply pours out of her. Expect elements of operatic vocals, heavy bass, and homages to the worlds of folk and pop. If music is the language of the soul then Calla speaks truth in many tongues.
