The Plaza

A fundraiser for the Centre for Brain Research

About the event

May is Huntington’s Disease (HD) Awareness Month, a global initiative to raise awareness and break down stigma. For this occassion, we are hosting a fundraiser to support the work and research done at the Centre for Brain Research.

The evening will begin around 6pm with drinks and nibbles and a mix and mingle in the foyer of the Plaza Theatre. Raffles will be available during this time.

We will screen a short documentary, Dancing at the Vatican, which tells the story of Pope Frances meeting members of the international HD community and becoming the first global leader to publicly recognize the disease. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with leading neuroscientists from the Centre for Brain Research, moderated by Sue Giddens. Jo Dysart, HD Disease Nurse Specialist and Manager of the Huntington’s Disease Association Auckland, will also give a short talk about her work with HD patients.

After the talks, please join us for coffee and tea in the foyer, and for the drawing of the raffles. There will be a koha basket if you would like to make a donation.
