Alexander Turnbull was an avid collector of New Zealand books and artifacts, purchasing items for his collection both from here and overseas. In 1918 he bequeathed his library and collections to the nation. The Turnbull Library opened its doors two years later and this year celebrates its centenary.
Anthony Tedeschi, curator of Fine Books at the Turnbull Library, will talk on recently unearthed correspondence between Alexander Turnbull and some of his bookdealers and will illustrate his talk with images of some of the purchases made. There will be time for questions.
