On the 22nd of August 1981 Nelsonians took the streets to protest the Springbok tour and support the anti-apartheid struggle in South Africa. A tuna bomb was detonated close to the Springboks hotel and stop the tour banner was draped from the top of Nelson Cathedral!
40 years later John Minto (previous national chairman of Halt All Racist Tours) is visiting Nelson to remember the anti-apartheid protests and call us to action to support Palestinians living under the apartheid regime in Israel and occupied Palestine.
There will be a presentation by John and other speakers. Entry is koha and there will be Palestinian desserts provided. Appropriate social distancing and mask-wearing will be observed.

Note - our initial event was planned for 22nd of August, however this was post-phoned due to the Level 4 lockdown. We're looking forward to welcoming John here on the 7th!
