WorldBending: A Survivor's Guide - Q & A with Author

Join us to hear the role of art and creativity in a crisis!

Launched at the end of 2019, the book: WorldBending: a survivor's guide, presents a new perspective on the role of the artist and creativity in a time of climate change and existential crises.

The author, Pete Rive, will be interviewed by poet and author, Paul Hewlett about his book. It is an event that will also feature the artwork of Mike Hutcheson together with refreshments and a Q & A, followed by purchases and a book signing.

What's The Book About?
WorldBending: a survivor’s guide is written for those who want to think and act creatively about our future. It acknowledges that we are facing numerous crises including existential, social, political, technological, and economic. The world is changing at an exponential rate and climate change is only one of many physical as well as conceptual tectonic shifts we are grappling with.

This book is about the end of the world as we know it, how we got here, who we will share new worlds with, and what we might do about making survival plans? Better still, it goes beyond survival and considers how we might enjoy a meaningful, artistic and creative life in an ecological future.

Before we materially construct anything, we must aesthetically take action, imaginatively and creatively engaging with both the organic and inorganic things all around us - whether it is paint, clay or code – we must get over the guilt of the environmental damage we have caused and fall in love with ourselves and the others who share these worlds.
