Friends of Te Papa

In a relaxed, social setting take on the basic techniques of painting with acrylics on canvas. Paintvine artist Debbie Anderson leads the session with step-by-step instruction and plenty of room for your own personalised touches. Get ready for the best wine and paint party in New Zealand. No artistic experience required (we promise!).

We’ll be painting Growth by Rita Angus which is not typical of her usual style. This piece and and a more typical example of her work, her portrait of Laurence Baigent, will be bought out from Te Papa’s collection especially for you to get up close with.

Te Papa Modern Art Curator Lizzie Bisley will kick the evening off in Toi Art speaking about Angus, the development of her work and the upcoming exhibition. Then Paintvine artist Debbie Anderson will guide us through creating our own versions of Growth to take home at the end of the evening. Join us for this private event in Toi Art where we’ll be treated to drinks, canapés, music and beautiful art in this exclusive setting.

Spaces are limited to 40, so book early to avoid missing out!
