Peter Edmead will address the topic Why help? Why not? All welcome.
Peter started his working career as a consultant engineer on projects like the Thames Barrier project and the construction of Jeddah Port in Saudi Arabia. He was awarded Chartered Engineer status with the Institution of Civil Engineers and has since worked all over the world, including the North Sea, USA and South Korea. After the birth of his daughters, Peter opted for a career change and became a science teacher at Hampton Academy, in West London, where he taught for most of his time as Head of Science.
He also set up links with schools in Kenya and regularly visited to teach there as a volunteer. He also enjoys swimming and watersports and is past Chairman of both the London Branch of the British Sub-Aqua Club and Richmond Swimming Club. Since retiring in 2013, Peter has spent some his time as a Humanist non-religious, volunteer within UK hospital chaplaincies.
He also splits his time between his homes in West Dorset and Napier, to avoid winter an keep up with his daughters, who are both New Zealand residents. The New Zealand Association of Rationalists & Humanists Hawke’s Bay & East Coast branch is pleased to welcome Peter, a speaker with world-wide experience.
