One of the finest brass bands in the world will showcase New Zealand's best brass and percussion players in a concert that will blow you away. Conducted by Music Director David Bremner (New Zealand Symphony Orchestra), the concert will have something for everyone, from Dvorak and Mendelssohn through to Jazz and even dancing! This is the National Band's only concert for 2020 due to COVID-19, so don't miss this opportunity to hear one of the finest brass ensembles in the world in a concert that you won't want to end!
"Virtuoso Brass" will showcase the band’s musical dexterity as it performs a wide range of musical styles with even a bit of dancing thrown in! Included in the repertoire will be a new work written for this concert by young New Zealand composer Jack Bewley and solos performed by the band’s Principal Cornet Harmon Vanhoorne, Principal Horn Mike Ford and Principal Euphonium Steve Miles. The afternoon programme includes Dvorak’s ‘Carnival Overture’; ‘Shine as the Light’ by brass band composer Peter Graham and ‘Finale from Organ Symphony’ by Saint-Saëns. Last time the National Band visited Hamilton, the concert was extremely close to a sell-out so get your tickets now!
