Te Uru

A playful, vibrant and colourful collection of works created by the artists of A Supported Life’s creative hub, ‘Two4nine’, a studio for artists with disabilities. This exhibition features different mediums, including photography, sculpture, mosaic, ceramics and paintings. The artists of Two4nine invite viewers to reflect in equal measure on the beauty and vulnerability of those that inhabit our waterways. From fish to bird life, to people who have lived close by.

Two4nine are motivated by a belief in the authentic creativity in their works. They say, we believe art is about revealing ourselves and creating meaningful connections – between artists, tutors and art lovers. Our experiences will always be shared, our knowledge passed on, and our studio will be a space for fun, creativity and success.

The artists whose work is featured in this exhibition include: Brendon Baverstock, Rose Green, Bradley Houia, Treena Armstrong, Neala O’Brien, Danny Cope, Hamish Knott, Margot Peacock, Matthew Coakley, Matthew Tonkin, Amy Hall and Jonathan Gill.

A Supported Life works with the Ministry of Social Development and the Ministry of Health to empower people with moderate to mild learning disabilities through supported accommodation, lifestyle planning and development. They teach a range of skills to suit the diverse needs and aspirations of the people they support.
