Sam Poots is an emerging artist branding herself as "Art of Poots".

Poots specialises in a technique called pointillism or known as ‘stippling’. This is a style of drawing which involves using dots of ink or distinct colour to create illusion of form.

Growing up in the Central North Island, and based beneath the mountains in her earlier years, is where Poots discovered her love for the outdoors. Now based close to the surrounding Ruahine Ranges of Hawke’s Bay, her adventures spread from the magnificent peaks to the depth of the sea in search for integrity and inspiration.

Natural environments are a major influence in Sam’s works. Her creations tell the story how human and nature can co-exist, however they also highlight the challenges that these two have had in the past and the challenges ahead. The need for solidarity to protect our unique landscape, wildlife, and surrounding oceans is the driving force behind her work.

‘THe WILder’ e xhibition is a way to express the awakening between humans and nature that we could have. Letting Mother Nature and her creations teach us to how embrace and breathe the wonders of this world, to get back into sync and stop destroying the treasures and protect them instead – ‘to reconnect with nature’. Letting the whispers of nature influence our actions. Reconsider the fundamental abilities to survive, to feel alive, and challenge our skills as an integration back to the wilder.

Join Sam to celebrate the opening of her exhibition from the 30th of October. All welcome!

Art of Poots’ work can be viewed at the CAN small gallery with some pieces available for purchase.
