Join us for Te Wiki O Matawhero – The Week of Mars in October 2020 to witness the Red Planet up close and personal!

This year’s ‘opposition’ will see the Earth, Sun and Mars lining up for what will be the Red Planet’s closest approach to Earth for the next 15 years! This is your chance to see Mars bigger and brighter than before.

Make sure you’re a part of this unique celestial event at Stardome, where our team of astronomy professionals will guide you through a live planetarium show and intimate telescope viewings of Mars.

You’ll learn about our neighbour in space (Mars) in our state-of-the-art digital planetarium, before viewing the planet itself through both our courtyard and incredible Zeiss telescope. Mars will be close enough to see some of the large-scale features on its surface with the on-hand assistance of our expert telescope operators.

To make sure you see all that Mars has to offer on the night of your visit, we’ll be showing amazing photography and mini-documentaries on the Red Planet in our Space Room– the perfect place to chill out with a wine or beer from our bar.

Don’t miss your chance to see this breath-taking view of Mars that won’t come again until 2035!

Sessions are limited, so make sure you book your seat early!

Bookings are Essential (no casual entry or viewings).

Refreshments will be available for purchase (including a cash bar)
