Puhinui Regeneration: Partners and Community Waananga
The Puhinui Stream and surrounding catchment was once the source of life for people and wildlife in south Auckland. Yet over time the focus has changed and the health of this important awa has declined. Industrial warehouses occupy a lot of the surrounding land, the native tree canopy is lacking and birds like matuku (bittern) and kai like inanga (whitebait) which were once common struggle to thrive.
The city’s regeneration agency Panuku Development Auckland and mana whenua are working with a range of project partners to develop a collaborative strategy to breathe life back into Te Puhinui; people place and nature. Come and hear how we hope to work together to improve this catchment and provide your input into an aspirational long-term plan. With our collaborative effort we have the opportunity to make real change now and in the future.
Please RSVP to our Facebook event so that we can get a sense of numbers for catering.
