Join Te Papa and the Department of Conservation for day full of free, fun, whānau friendly activities in Te Taiao | Nature exhibition. Explore Bush City with a magnifying glass, meet a conservation dog, and learn all about how we can protect Aotearoa’s native wildlife.

Programme:

Crafts: Make your own nature journal
10 am–3 pm, Wellington Foyer, Level 2
Start your journey as a kaitiaki by making your own nature journal, then head over to Bush City to explore and record your observations.

Collaborative art project: My nature memories
10 am-3 pm, Wellington Foyer, Level 2
What are your favourite nature memories? Join our collaborative art project by drawing or writing your most memorable moments in te taiao on the Wellington Foyer window.

Face painting
10am-3 pm Wellington Foyer, Level 2
Free, Te Taiao-themed face painting available for children and adults alike throughout the day.

Puppet Show: The Penguin and the Sea Monster
11-11:30am, Te Papa Hui I Backyard, Level 2
A starry-eyed story about protecting our Moana from plastic and a little blue penguin who seeks help from the night sky when his friend is captured by a sea monster.

Explore Bush City with Te Papa’s scientists
11:30am–12 pm and 12:30pm-1 pm, Amphitheatre Level 1
Join Te Papa’s science team for a family-friendly tour of Bush City. Kids, bring your nature journal along!

Meet a Conservation Dog!
12-12:30pm, Bush City Kiosk, Level 2
Come along to Bush City Kiosk to learn how dogs can help us to protect Aotearoa’s unique nature.

Ask an Expert session
1-2.30pm, Te Papa Hui I Backyard, Level 2
Ask experts from the Department of Conservation all your nature-related questions! This session is NZSL interpreted.

Kids must be accompanied by an adult for all activities.
