A Unique Collection of Hits, New Recordings, Alternate Versions, Unreleased & Rare Recordings
This CD features the first new recordings (’The Mahatma’s Army’ and ‘Vagrant Heart’) since Shona’s 2007 album ‘Pass The Whisper’, and even at this early stage, are already regarded amongst her finest recordings, many of which appear on this collection.
The four unreleased UK tracks from 1975 finally see the light of day and they sound as fresh and relevant today as they did 45 years ago. Also making it’s CD debut is the single mix of ‘Soviet Snow’ which was only released in Australia. The Manfred Mann Earthband track, ‘I Who Have Nothing’ features Shona on vocals and is a revelation to those who did not know or had forgotten about this part of her career as an integral part of the group. Shona has always been a generous collaborator with other artists and two of her more eclec- tic collaborations are featured - ‘Going Out’ with Black Sheep is a western swing tinged stomper while her duet with Tom Sharplin on ‘We’ll Sing In the Sunshine’ adds a new dimension to this Kiwi favourite.
I am extremely pleased with my two new tracks on this album,’The Mahatma’s Army’ and
‘Vagrant Heart’. The four unreleased UK tracks from 1975 have stood the test of time and feature Alan Tarney, Trevor Spencer and Terry Britton, who were the hot ticket around London at the time, on backing vocals is Suzanne Lynch.......Shona Laing
