This is our community event when there is free entry to the museum. The Kauri Museum welcomes settlers old and new to their annual live day. Join us as we explore the theme of Work and Play through our living cultural heritage. Machines are fired up and fires stoked, to boil a billy or cook damper. Volunteers in period costume share activities and stories of our past. Look out for the hand operated printing press in action. Children can print their own copy of our Settlers Day poster.

Loads of fun free activities for kids, live music, food stalls, displays, competitions, and so much more.

Alongside old favourites, new activities and demonstrations are chosen to reflect this year’s theme.
This is our big day, so come along and enjoy all that our hardworking team has put together for you. Settlers Day is the day 'the museum comes alive'.
