The best Health and Safety Management plan can be undermined if those involved cannot clearly identify the risk of injury that identified hazards may have. When partnered with our Hazard101 training module, this course helps maintain perspective when assessing hazards in the workplace to ensure that health and safety managers can focus their attention on the right details.

While your team may have dedicated H&S officers, maintaining safety is an organsiation wide commitment requiring all all levels of staff to be involved. This training module aims to give people the confidence to assess the risk of harm that their actions or hazards in the workplace pose for them or their workmates.

Kiwis have an iconic "She'll be right" attitude when assessing the risk of activities, this course will help take them out of this mentality by providing a framework for them to use based on a real-life NZ hospital scenario.

Your Learning Outcomes:

This module is designed to simplify risk assessment processes to practical steps that can be applied by any member of your organisation, regardless of level.

The course uses a real live NZ example in a hospital setting to teach the intricacies of risk assessment
A brief summary of hazard identification is offered however this course is best paired with Hazard101
To enhance learning, a competency framework is utilised to maximise retention of the information. An optional exercise for participants to view a ‘difficult” job and conduct a hazard identification and risk assessment process is offered.
Our instructor will discuss legal terms essentially means do a risk assessment, work through a hierarchy of options; develop a control and then monitor it for effectiveness from time to time

The course also teaches participants the concept that the law will not allow managers to argue “cost” if the risk is red or high frequency/likelihood/harm

Participants will learn to use different risk matrices and learn what information is available on the WorkSafe website on risk assessment

Participants will rate themselves and their workplace against best practice with the end of course questionnaire with the assistance and guidance of our experienced Health and Safety Trainer
