Public Talk Series with Geshe Nyima Dorjee

Geshe Nyima Dorjee will present 5 public talks, based on discussions investigating and touching on the nature of things, our activities and understanding our influence, from the Buddhist perspective.

The THIRD of the Public Talk Series:
'The Mind and Its Potential'

Geshe Nyima Dorjee (Geshela) studied and trained in Buddhist science, religion and philosophy. The foundation of his training was based on understanding and transforming the mind.
As sentient beings we have the greatest potential of having wisdom, compassion, power and skillful ways to be of the greatest purpose and benefit to all, including ourselves.
Understanding the natural qualities of the mind, its ability and what the current obscurations to the minds greatest potential are is important.

In this third public talk series, 'The Mind and its Potential', Geshela will give a Buddhist philosophical perspective as a public talk, followed by the opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussions.

About Geshe Nyima Dorjee:

Venerable Geshe Nyima Dorjee (known as Geshela) was born in Tibet and fled to India as a young teenager. At a young age he had the strong imprints of wishing to be a monk, and joined the local monastery in Tibet before fleeing. The title ‘Geshe’ is granted to those that have completed 25 years of extensive study, practices and been examined by highly esteemed lamas. Geshela graduated from Sera Monastic University in South India. His main teachers included His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, the late Venerable Khensur Urgyen Tseten, Venerable Khensur Kangurwa Lobsang Thupten and Venerable Khenpo Lobsang Palden.

Geshela is the resident teacher for Christchurch, a rare opportunity as there are only five Geshes currently in New Zealand.
