Georgia is a small mountainous country of 3.7 million people located in a region known as the Caucasus. It is a nation of poets, farmers and winemakers, filled with ancient castles, alpine passes and Soviet relics. Its citizens have survived numerous wars and revolutions and yet have not lost their warmth and humour, the word resilient was likely created just for them.
Christchurch photographer Joe Harrison first visited Georgia in 2010 where he worked as a volunteer for the Roddy Scott Foundation. He returned for a short visit in 2015 before finally moving to the capital, Tbilisi, for a year in 2018. Tiflis is a collection of photographs from Joe's time spent exploring Georgia’s mountains, villages and cities over the past 10 years.
The exhibition will be displayed at Space Academy in St Asaph Street for a couple of weeks and all profits from prints sold will go to the Roddy Scott Foundation.
