Presenting an evening of Acoustic Rock!

Three of Wellington's most up-and-coming original rock acts, playing a unique blend of acoustic and electric sounds. We have specifically chosen these bands as they have each been developed with an acoustic singer-songwriter at the heart of them.

Plugged or unplugged, these bands showcase the essence of rock with an acoustic soul. There’s nothing like that stripped-back natural sound of an acoustic guitar to bring out the true heart of the songs, and the spirit in which they were written.

Solo artist Julian Alexander Terris kicks of the evening with his high energy set of acoustic originals.

Followed by the uniquely emotive sound of Adoneye; an extraordinarily talented acoustic rock trio that is not to be missed. Dean Rossell fronts with his impeccable playing style, stellar vocals and deep thought-provoking lyrics, while bassist Jesse Danger Hill and drummer Jig Jasmat superbly complement and enhance the sometimes unusual and progressive grunge arrangements.

And finally; topping off the evening are our headlining act No Sudden Movements! Described as Melodic Rock and Power Pop, NSM plan to play a stripped-down acoustic section of their set, to really showcase the heart of Cathy Elizabeth’s song writing, and to bring out all of the subtlety and beauty of the vocals and strings.

No Sudden Movements were Battle of the Bands National Finalists in 2019, which was a great achievement in the midst of some last-minute line-up changes. The addition of Michael Muggeridge on lead guitar has been a truly magical one, as you couldn’t find a more perfect fit; for both the sound and the joy, that No Sudden Movements seeks to convey.

With a combination of blues, jazz, bluegrass and rock backgrounds, including Stefan Sarten on drums and Rob Wilson on bass, the bands versatility and potential has been well and truly cemented. A band to watch for 2020 and beyond.

Doors open 8pm.
