Based at Mt Cook, our Landscape Masterclass Workshop is designed as an ideal programme to expand your skills as a landscape photographer. With Rob Brown and Richard Young as your tutors, you will learn to shoot a diverse range of subject matters including, mountains, glaciers, macro and nature photography and the night sky & astrophotography.

Mt Cook has world-renowned clear skies with no light pollution, offering the chance to photograph the Milky Way above the Southern Alps. The workshop also includes a ski-plane flight over Mt Cook to do some aerial photography.

We will base for 3 nights in the comfortable Hermitage Hotel in Mt Cook Village, with the use of a conference room for tuition and post-processing sessions.

If you are arriving via Queenstown airport we can pick you up the day before and that evening your guide will meet with all participants to discuss the programme. Or you can meet us at Mt Cook Village.

Day 1
We will pick you up early from Queenstown or you can meet us at Mt Cook at lunchtime. After assembling in our comfortable conference room at the Hermitage Hotel, we will run through an introductory programme of advanced camera setup for landscape photography and tutorials on composition and advanced the depth of filed of landscape shooting. Later in the afternoon, we will head out for our first sunset in the Tasman Valley.

Day 2
The day begins early sunrise shoot over Mt Cook before heading back to the hotel for breakfast. The rest of the day will be taken up alternating between locations in the park and covering a whole range of techniques for advancing your photography. After sunset in the shoot in Hooker Valley and some dinner, tonight we will head out for an Astro shoot to capture the Milkyway in the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve.

Day 3
This morning we will do a ski-plane flight (included in the price) over Mt Cook to learn the basics of aerial photography, along with a stunning landing up high on the Tasman Glacier. We will then spend the morning in the hotel conference room to offer some group critique of the photographs from the last days and an in-depth post-production session covering the processing of landscape photographs. Sunset this evening might see us returning on a location with the park or venturing further afield to explore more of the beautiful Mackenzie Country.

Day 4
Another sunrise shoot to capture some of the first morning light across the Southern Alps. We will then help you process your two best images from the workshop and produce a finished 16x22" fine art print of them to take home. The workshop will finish after lunch today, with return transport then provided back to Queenstown to meet with late afternoon flights.
