Matariki at Zealandia

We invite you and your whānau to ZEALANDIA for a fun weekend celebrating Matariki. Enjoy being outside and surrounded by nature. We invite you to the home of over 40 native species of Aotearoa.

There is plenty to keep the tamariki happy. Take the Star Search Challenge, exploring the sanctuary for nine Matariki stars that have (temporarily) fallen to shine their light on some of the incredible species nature provides for us! Answer nine questions on the special Star Search Map and enter the draw for a special prize.

There is kai in Rātā Cafe or bring your own and sit inside the sanctuary. Look for kākā, takahē and tuatara. Some of the many special residents of ZEALANDIA. There is plenty of forest to shelter you from the weather and an indoor exhibition where you can find out about moa, why animals are extinct in Aotearoa, and see a wide range of species.
